Lvl 122: Be THANKFUL for your Laziness

Show yourself some gratitude. What does it mean to be thankful anyway? Does it mean saying "thank you" to every little thing? Does it mean giving a big kiss n' hug to show your appreciation? Well, no, not quite. Being thankful means being present. It's as simple as that. See, often times we aren't present and we aren't thankful for how things are right now. We're thinking about how "things could be better if..." or maybe even "things were better when..." We're showing appreciation towards a past that's gone or a future that doesn't exist and remain ungrateful for what we DO have in the present. And here's the thing: one day what you o have NOW will be gone and you'll be sittin' there appreciating it later (after you don't have it any more). It's weird how our brains work. We have more appreciation for something after we lose it than we ever did while having it. It's why people mourn so hard at funerals. It's the reason people get so heartbroken after a break up or divorce. It's the reason people get nostalgic about the "good ole days" back in high school. We only appreciate what we have after it's too late and it's already lost. Likewise, we "look forward to the day when"...things will get better. We appreciate that day soon to come more than we appreciate today. We look forward to buying the new house and don't appreciate the old shoddy apartment that somehow has a cozy atmosphere we're living in now. We look forward to driving the new Tesla and don't appreciate the adventures we took while driving that rusty old Ford. We look forward to the day when we get that promotion at work and don't appreciation the lack of responsibilities in the lower position. (of course we're too lazy to work anyway, but you get the point) Be grateful for what you have because... one day... ...you won't have it.
