Lvl 112: Embrace Your Inner Sloth - Be SLOW (SSD)

We need to SLOOOOOOW DOWN. We live in such a fast-paced society. Everybody's rushing. Get it done NOW. Buy it NOW. Hurry up! Don't miss this deal! Hurry up! It's a limited time deal. A limited time opportunity. You better act NOW so you don't miss it! And so what if I miss it? What am I really missing out on? The feeling of immediate gratification? As if! Ya know, sometimes the most satisfying things in life don't come right away. Relationships nowadays are built on swiping right. Friendships on clicking Like. All of it's instant, yeah. But none of it has any substance. We don't take the time to...do anything really, yet alone build a meaningful connection with another person. Just look at the divorce rates. Why are they so high? People are addicted to immediate gratification. There's an issue in the relationship? That takes too long to fix! I'm not happy now! I want a better relationship NOW! So they drop whatever they had or were working towards to find something better. People quickly replace people like they replace their phones nowadays. Plus, we're always swiftly moving on to "the next big thing", the next big purchase, the next big goal. We're never satisfied with what we have. In the present. We crave more of this or more of that. Only to be left feeling disappointed when we realize it's not exactly what we expected or hoped for. There's still something..missing. Something missing! Something missing! There's always something missing. That emptiness you feel comes from rushing to get somewhere and ending up no where. Move slow and steady towards a purposeful destination. Climb that tree like a sloth. You'll get to the top...eventually. Don't swing to a branch swiftly just because you're bored. Hang there on one branch for a little while. Take in the view. Enjoy it. Hey, and even if it's raining, there's still a lot to see. Hang in the moment. Move to the next moment, slowly. Life is meant to be experienced, not rushed by and gone before you know it.
